Medical services in schools are healthcare services provided to students with the aim of assessing, monitoring, protecting, and improving their health, preventing health problems and illnesses, providing first aid, and referring students to the appropriate healthcare professional. The goal of medical services in schools is to ensure the well-being of students, which contributes to their normal development and growth. Medical services in schools are provided by the school nurse, who works in collaboration with the student, their family, and school staff.
Medical services in schools encompass four closely related areas of activity:
-
Improving the health and well-being of students.Creating a healthy environment: preventing violence and bullying, and improving mental well-being.
-
Disease prevention.Prevention of posture disorders, vision problems, and eating disorders; prevention of infectious diseases.
-

Pay more attention to your children’s health. In most cases, students come to school complaining of headaches, sore throats, and stomachaches. Check your child’s health before they leave for school. Be understanding of their complaints about feeling unwell, pain, and fever.
Make sure the child has breakfast at home in the morning. It is very important that the habit of eating breakfast in the morning is maintained throughout their life. Check that the student’s clothing is appropriate for the weather conditions. Remind them about the importance of school lunches.
If a child is feeling unwell, take them to see a family doctor instead of sending them to school.
Consult your family doctor promptly, as they are directly responsible for providing treatment. This will help you prevent potential complications in your children and protect others from infection. After all, all children are our children, and we all want them to be healthy!
