On May 8 and 12, our school held a grand celebration of Book and Rose Day. This year, the event was organized by our dedicated high school students. Led by 10th-grade twins Emilia and Eva Paulman, all 23 library lessons for elementary and middle school students were coordinated, and pictures, worksheets, book sets, and prizes were distributed. Andrus Kivirähk’s story “What Bicycles Do in Winter” was read aloud to elementary school students, who were then asked to use their imagination to draw their vision of what actually happens to bicycles in winter. The best works now adorn the display on the first floor.
For students in grades 5–8, a title-guessing contest titled “Blind Date with a Book” was organized, which required participants to demonstrate attention to detail, proficiency in the Estonian language, and ingenuity. For this competition, 72 books had to be wrapped in paper and plastic, and in this massive task, our always helpful teachers Vladlena Semenova and Iryna Rakytska were indispensable assistants to the librarian. Head of Studies Marina Šaab took care of the prizes.
Once again, a big thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this event!
